It has been assumed by those responsible for placing the fluoride in the water that the fluoride we drink will spread throughout your body, through your bones and thence into your teeth. This fluoride is claimed without proof to strengthen your teeth, to make every resident's teeth more resistant to cavities, be they rich or poor. Fluoride is not an essential element for your health. It is in fact, a poison, a highly toxic chemical, and over time it can cause definite harm to your health.

The fluoride compound actually being used in Ottawa is not chemically pure even though it is intended for human consumption. It is actually a compound called hydrofluorosilicic acid. This is a highly toxic and corrosive industrial waste obtained from the fertilizer industry. Handling this poison requires very stringent procedures, including chemical protective suits! Besides fluoride, It also contains many pollutants such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, barium, iron, lead, and mercury, some of which are cumulative. Fluoride itself accumulates in the body, both in our bones and in our tissues and organs. Of all the fluoride that we drink or get from our food, our body only gets rid of about 50%. Thus over time our body becomes more and more polluted with fluoride.

The US Food and Drug Administration has classified hydrofluorosilicic acid as an “unapproved drug”, but have refused to do anything about it. Health Canada has not approved it for use as a drug within Canada, and they too refuse to do anything about it. The use of this chemical as a drug must therefore be considered illegal. Forced medication of this drug is certainly unethical and removes the individual’s right of informed consent, a principle entrenched in both doctors’ and dentists’ codes of ethics.

Fluoridation in Ottawa began in 1965. It has continued until the present. During that time the City has done nothing to determine whether or not fluoridation was either safe or

The responsibility for fluoridation in Ottawa resides in the City Council. They have the executive power to continue fluoridation or to “shut off the fluoridation tap”. However, at the moment, they do not seem to have any interest in even discussing this problem.

There is much recent research that indicates that fluoride ingestion can create many health problems. Such things as dental fluorosis (mottling of the teeth), thyroid and pineal gland problems, bone problems (including fractures, arthritis, and osteosarcoma – bone cancer), kidney problems, and effects on the brain. There is virtually no research that finds that fluoridation prevents cavities.

The City of Ottawa processes about 290 million litres of drinking water per day. At a concentration of 0.7 mg per litre, this means that about 203 kilograms of fluoride, a highly reactive substance (plus all the other pollutants) is poured into our water, daily. It is generally assumed that somewhat less than 1% of municipal water is used for drinking. This means that over 193 kilogramss of fluoride (plus the rest of the pollutants) are dumped into our environment daily (70.4 metric tonnes per year). And this, in your city!

I think we all understand that it is immoral to cause harm to another person except in self defense, and it is an undeniable fact that artificial water fluoridation causes harm. It is abhorrent for a municipality and it's Councillors to maintain that there is no harm done by the addition of a fluoride chemical to our water supply. It definitely causes harm to thousands of people with chemical sensitivities. Evidence is now clear and irrefutable. At one time it may have been argued that there was doubt about that fact. But now, there is no longer any doubt whatsoever. Many degenerative diseases, illnesses, and conditions are aggravated by it.

The city's health office has most often been cited by Ottawa Councillors when questioned on the scientific and legal claims of safety of the fluoridation product in question. The health department is unable to provide any animal studies (toxicology studies) and human studies (randomized, controlled clinical trials) on the use of hydrofluorosilicic acid for the unproved claim of reducing or stopping tooth decay. Claims that the city conforms to NSF 60/ANSI standards are unsustainable, since upon close investigation they do not have any such safety studies.

From the above it is clear that the city has not done its due diligence on water fluoridation and is simply following directives from other parties who are not responsible for any consequences for their actions and claims. This is why other cities are able to eliminate this untested product from their tap water, removing them from any wrong doing (liability) and continued injury to their constituents should they knowingly continue to add untested products to the water.

It is incumbent on elected representative to do their due diligence and provide evidence of hydrofluorosilicic acid's safety and effectiveness as requested, or cease this practice until such evidence is provided.

If our elected representatives continuously hide their heads in the sand by deferring to the medical officer of health, a highly paid medical bureaucrat, claiming ignorance of medicine and science, they are sadly mistaken. You don't have to be a doctor, a dentist or a scientist to understand that fluoridation is immoral, unethical and harms human health and the environment because of it's very chemical nature.

It is clearly stated on the City of Ottawa web site, at http://www.ottawa.ca/env_water/water_sewer/water_w ells/quality/facts/fluoride_en.html#P32_3079, that the fluoride chemical used is called hydrofluorosilicic acid. Do you know exactly what this acid really is?

Hydrofluorosilicic acid is a highly hazardous, unapproved, untested, unregulated and unpurified, toxic waste product from the phosphate fertilizer industry that contains cancer causing and neurotoxic substances and many contaminants in it! Of course, it's not how the medical bureaucrats present this! But why? Please, ask your Councillor.

Do you know what those other substances are? Here are the currently known contaminants that arrive at our water treatment plant for injecting into our water supply: fluorine (F), hydrogen fluoride (HF), lead (Pb), arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), phosphorus (P), iron (Fe), iodine (I), silver (Ag), plus uranium238 (U238), barium (Ba), radon (Rn), cobalt (Co), radium (Ra), polonium (Po) other radionuclides and possibly other yet undetectable contaminants that are not bio-available.

Since it is the City that purchases this product, that it is the City that causes it to be injected into the water supply, and that our elected Councillors are the ones responsible to the electorate for preventing the use of anything that may be harmful to the residents of this City, it is their responsibility to insure that none of these harmful chemicals and elements are put in our water supply.

We therefore need to compel them to develop the political will to prevent the injection of the fluoride chemical into the water supply by whatever legal, non violent actions deemed necessary to accomplish this change in mindset on the part of our Councillors. The time to act is now!

Here’s a quick chemistry lesson. The formula represents a compound made up of atoms or elements found in nature. The H stands for the Hydrogen element, and there are 2 atoms in this compound. The Si stands for the Silica element, the main component in sand. And the F stands for the Fluorine element and there are 6 atoms here. Because of the Silica, this acid is often called sand acid.

The fluorine element is the most chemically reactive element on earth and will combine with any other element on the planet, including the so-called noble gases that do not usually combine with any other element. It is not found in it’s elemental form in nature because of its extremely high reactivity. In water, it becomes an extremely powerful acid especially when not attached to another element of compound.

One needs to understand what’s happening concerning the use of this product in our tap water.

Water treatment plants purify the water from the source to make it drinkable, using various expensive filtration and chemical processes. Then once the water is purified, they add that hydrofluorosilicic acid, an unapproved, untested, unregulated and unpurified, highly hazardous, highly toxic waste product to it, that contains cancer causing and neurotoxic contaminants in it! Is that how our highly paid medical bureaucrats presented this?

That means that those of us who can not tolerate ingestion of or other exposure to Fluoride from that water have to purify it. That means we pay for the city to purify it, then we pay to contaminate it and then we pay again to purify once more so we can drink it. Isn’t that just plain foolishness?

If the claim of effectiveness was true, there would be no tooth decay in places where fluoridation has been used for cavities prevention for over 40 years. Look at the recent reports of cavity rates in the Kingston-Newburgh areas today and see for yourself. The fluoridated community has worse cavity rates than the non-fluoridated one! Explain that and then do what's right. Treat the cause, not the results of the cause.

There is no legitimate, valid, unbiased, substantiated, independent and objective research on hydrofluorosilicic acid used for fluoridation showing that it is safe and effective in preventing tooth decay.

If you live, work in or visit the Ottawa area, you are drinking fluoridated water in every beverage and glass of water you swallow and every bite of food that uses water for cooking or preparing in any way. So it’s in the juice you prepare from concentrate. It’s in the food prepared for us that we buy in the grocery stores.

How many people have already died from this medical cover-up (cancer, kidney failure, heart attacks, high cholesterol, etc, etc)? We have to stop this dangerous, reckless and deadly practice.

History
Over sixty years ago, the U.S. had a massive surplus of waste Fluorides from its heavy industries. Industrialists set about creating a market for this waste and sold the idea to a gullible U.S. Public Health Service that Fluoride is “a miracle drug” which reduces tooth decay. It was then promoted without proper scientific studies having been completed. Even today, fluoridation proponents spend time and resources ridiculing scientists, researchers and even dentists who publish findings against fluoridation. “Speaking out against Fluoride can seriously damage your career,” say the victims.

The propaganda used to promote fluoridation is filled with exaggerated and unsupported claims of benefits and cost effectiveness while ignoring and vilifying ALL contrary evidence that tends to reject the claims. Reputations and careers have been destroyed in the name of fluoridation and its unproven benefits.

Only 2% of the European population is fluoridated. Some European countries tried fluoridation and stopped; others rejected it at the outset. It is illegal to dump the toxic waste chemicals into any water body or to landfills. However, phosphate fertilizer pollution scrubber liquor is exported to Canada for disposal via our water supplies and we, the taxpayers, pick up the bill.

Can any health professional justify fluoridation?
“No physician in his right senses would prescribe for a person he has never met, whose medical history he does not know, a substance that is intended to create bodily change, with the advice: 'Take as much as you like, but you will take it for the rest of your life because some children suffer from tooth decay.' It is a preposterous notion.” Dr. Peter Mansfield, Director, Templegarth Trust, UK.

Fluoride is known to cause a range of adverse health effects, the most visible of which is dental fluorosis. This mottling and pitting of teeth is a permanent disfigurement and is an indication of chronic, systemic Fluoride chemical poisoning.

The Supreme Court of Canada (Metropolitan Toronto v. Forest Hill (Village), [1957] S.C.R. 569) ruled that fluoridation is “compulsory preventive medication” used for a “special health purpose.” That decision has never been overturned or contested and should have prevented any future implementation of fluoridation. Unfortunately, many organizations and munici­pali­ties have behaved against the law with impunity.

The Government-funded York Review found that in areas that are currently fluoridated (10% of the U.K. ), 48% of children suffer from dental fluorosis. That is surprisingly close to the rate of dental fluorosis that has been reported by the CDC/NCHS, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 1999-2004, on the prevalence of dental fluorosis in the U.S. and to those done in South Western Ontario but kept out of the media and out of the public eye.

On Thu., Apr. 15, 2010 , the Globe and Mail published the results of a Statistics Canada study that showed that if fluoridation is the only major difference between the two provinces (Québec and Ontario ), the chemical is preventing fewer than half a cavity per child in Ontario . Health Canada downplayed the significance of the findings. At that time, the province of Québec was fluoridated at 6.4% while Ontario was at 75.9% with nearly equal cavity rates.

While Fluoride is claimed to toughen the enamel of teeth to make them more resistant to bacteria-causing decay, the proof of which remains elusive, a number of medical journal studies have linked exposure to altered thyroid function, pituitary gland calcification, reduced IQ levels in children, osteosarcoma (a usually deadly form of juvenile bone cancer) in male youths under 21 and numerous degenerative illnesses; it is also a neurotoxin.

Dr. J. William Hirzy (2000) Senior Chemist at the U.S. EPA Headquarters states: “If this stuff (hydrofluorosilicic acid) gets out into the air, it's a pollutant; if it gets into the river, it's a pollutant; if it gets into the lake, it's a pollutant; but if it goes right straight into your drinking water system, it's not a pollutant. That's amazing.” So what are we doing, swallowing this acid with our water?

For those who want to ingest *fluoride* be my guest, not a hard thing to do, almost all toothpastes, mouthwashes and topical applications are available at the dentist office. It’s a very inexpensive alternative. Feel free to indulge but don't force me to do the same. However, be careful how much you swallow, it could kill you in the concentrations available in dental products if you eat too much of it. Check your fluoridated tube of toothpaste. It warns against letting children swallow the toothpaste and not to use more than a pea sized amount.

Remember when you go to the dentist and get a *fluoride* treatment? Are you not told not to swallow during the treatment? They only use Sodium Fluoride (NaF) as their fluoride chemical. The stuff being put into the water supply as a *fluoride* treatment is called hydrofluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6), and is 6 times more powerful than Sodium Fluoride. However, you’re told that’s all right because it gets diluted in the water to 0.7 parts per million parts of water. Well, it’s still *fluoride*: it’s still a poison.

How many are aware that the *fluoride* in the drinking water is not pharmacy grade, that it is a toxic waste product labelled by the EPA as a contaminant, as toxic waste. It is shipped in hazard waste tanks. It is not the *fluoride* used at dental offices or in toothpaste and mouthwashes.

To have blind faith in a local Medical Officer of Health (MOH) is more like a religion than science. Worldwide we have experts who have taken a real interest in this subject, they have degrees like you wouldn't believe, Nobel prize winners, written many books, etc. These people who have spoken out against *fluoride* in the drinking water are chemists, biochemists, medical Drs, dentists, researchers, even physicists.

Anyone who is listening to the local MOH and a few dentists is not even taking the trouble to look at the research. The City of Dorval put the *fluoride* back into its tap water but that is the only community in decades to have done so, and under tremendous political pressures. Statistics Canada's figures for dental decay in Quebec do not match those quoted by dentists bent on convincing you that *fluoride* in tap water is good for you. If they know that it is not dental grade, they do not tell you, because it is not. It’s an industrial grade toxic waste.

Statistics were published in the Globe and Mail, April 15, 2010, titled “Fluoridation may not do much for cavities”1 and can be seen in an easy to understand chart.2 Why are they lying about this and the type of *fluoride* used for fluoridation?

Dental lobbyists can not refute the biggest study done so far by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2007 [Neurath C. (2005). Tooth decay trends for 12 year olds in non fluoridated and fluoridated countries. Fluoride, 38:324-325]3 that proved that fluoridation does not work as claimed, as shown in this chart form4, that clearly demonstrates that cavity rates are declining whether water is fluoridated or not.

Dental cavities have decreased greatly all over the world, both sides agree. What is the real reason for that? Not *fluoride* as many still believe. Current facts and science are just not there. This decrease has happened in both fluoridated and non-fluoridated cities. In fact, declines in cavities are often greater when cities end fluoridation than cities that do not. Then there's dental fluorosis!

If yes, do you know exactly what’s in that tap water? that there are toxic chemical contaminants in there that could be affecting the health of your customers without you ever knowing it? what’s worse, without them ever knowing it until it’s too late? until they get sick but can never know the source of their illness because it comes from the food or drink from your restaurant as well as their tap water?

What if it’s true? Do you want to take a chance it is? Please let me show you this is unfortunately very true.

Would you pay extra to get water without those chemicals in it? Or try to do something to prevent those chemicals from being deliberately put into there in the first place? What DOES it do to the food you serve?

Yet medical bureaucrats insist we all be drugged with this toxic acid in our water because they believe without proof that it’s good for somebody’s teeth. This madness has to be stopped at all cost.

To stretch that to say that lack of fluoridation “causes” tooth decay has yet to be scientifically proven. The element Fluorine that is part of all fluoridation chemicals used in water fluoridation is the most chemically reactive element on the planet. That's a major part of the reason why fluoridation is a serious health problem. In water, it forms into an acid.

What is known scientifically for sure is that acids will dissolve teeth. Fluorine in water forms an acid, and a very powerful one! To claim that it will prevent tooth decay does not then make any sense at all.

All fluoridation chemicals used for fluoridation are acids. The one used in Ottawa and most of Canada is called hydrofluorosilicic acid, and it is so corrosive that when a spill occurs during transfer from the tanker truck to the water treatment plant, it eats away at the concrete. We have all been misled, even the Medical bureaucrats have been misled, all the way up to the top. Now they believe it so much that they defend it like their very lives depend on it. This is done by belief, not by science.

The illness that nearly caused me to end my own life was in large part caused by my high sensitivity to fluoride chemical ingestion and exposure, along with other toxins through water and foods. There are thousands like me in Ottawa who don't even know that *fluoride* is their health enemy. I only know of a handful for now, as I plod along to try to eliminate this poison from our water supply. We can not, we must not, continue to mass medicate people like this because there are no controls on who gets the so-called “medicine,” how much one gets and where else it ends up after it's in the water.

Once it's in the water, it gets into all of the foods and beverages we prepare to eat and drink, there is absorption also through the skin when we bathe, wash and shower, we inhale it with the mist produced every time we shower or pour very hot water into our sinks or when it escapes from dishwashers, dryers and clothes washers.

If fluoridation does work to prevent tooth decay, what about babies who don't yet have teeth? What about those who've lost all of their teeth? What benefit is it to them? What good is it for them?

Fluoridation: A Scientific Fraud

"Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this [20th] century" - Robert Carton, Ph.D., former risk assessment manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on "Marketplace" Canadian Broadcast Company, Nov. 24, 1992.

One blogger summed up Fluoride damage as ...
Even small amounts of fluoride consumed from tap water can damage your bones, teeth, brain, disrupt your thyroid function, lower IQ and/or cause cancer, according to evidence revealed in a groundbreaking 2006 National Research Council (NRC) fluoride report produced by a panel of experts who reviewed hundreds of published fluoride studies.

Q. But isn't fluoride good for our teeth? A. No.

The reality is that fluoride plays havoc with the immune system, contributes to the calcification of soft tissues, and is the cause of dental fluorosis in children.

Q. Have you ever seen those unsightly white, yellow or brown spots on the teeth of children? Have you ever wondered what they are from? A. Fluoride.

In fact, Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, PhD, Toxicologist and Pharmacologist, former head of the Forsyth Dental Research Center, Toxicology Department, Forsyth Research Institute, Boston, MA, has shown by inference, based on research, that fluoride actually lowers the I.Q. of children, recognized by her peers, ("Neurotoxicity of Sodium Fluoride in Rats", Mullenix; J. Neurotoxicology and Teratology, 17 (2), 1995).

There was a stunned silence from the research world. Funding dried up and eventually Dr. Mullenix was fired once her research was published. No follow up research has ever been done. Further research in non fluoridating countries have produced over 25 studies on human subjects that confirm her findings.

The truth is that fluoride is so bad for you it is hard to even list all of the bad effects.

The Natural Health and Longevity Resource Center published the following list of ten major health dangers from consuming fluoride that the scientific research is now showing.....

1.  Fluoride exposure disrupts the synthesis of collagen and leads to the breakdown of collagen in bone, tendon, muscle, skin, cartilage, lungs, kidney and trachea,

2.   Fluoride stimulates granule formation and oxygen consumption in white blood cells, but inhibits these processes when the white blood cell is challenged by a foreign agent in the blood,

3.  Fluoride depletes the energy reserves and the ability of white blood cells to properly destroy foreign agents by the process of phagocytosis. As little as 0.2 ppm fluoride stimulates superoxide production in resting white blood cells, virtually abolishing phagocytosis. Even micro-molar amounts of fluoride, below 1 ppm, may seriously depress the ability of white blood cells to destroy pathogenic agents,

4.  Fluoride confuses the immune system and causes it to attack the body's own tissues, and increases the tumor growth rate in cancer prone individuals,

5.  Fluoride inhibits antibody formation in the blood, and fighter cells,

10  Fluoride ingestion from mouth rinses and dentifrices in children is extremely hazardous to biological development, life span and general health.

Besides all of that, fluoride is a toxic sedative that calms you down and keeps you from thinking clearly. It has a severe impact on brain function.

Fibromyalgia, arthritis and other rheumatoid conditions, pineal gland calcification, brittle bones, heart attacks, strokes, dental fluorosis, skeletal fluorosis, crumbling teeth, cancer and the list goes on and on: these are all seriously aggravated if not caused outright, directly and indirectly, by artificial water fluoridation. It may be hard to believe, but the evidence is there though denied by the authorities from the municipal to the federal level. Why? Prestige, power, job security, high wages...

Fluoridation: Not what you think it is!

Municipal Councils are being urged either to retain fluoridation or to implement it by medico-dental bureaucrats who know next to nothing about and even deny any adverse health effects caused by water fluoridation. They also talk about it being an economical and efficient way of treating this diseased condition called tooth decay. But teeth is all they seem to care about. What about the rest of the body.

Ask any competent water engineer with his head on right, how much of our tap water is actually used for drinking. You'll be told that it's less than 1/2 a percent (0.5%). But wait, there's more.

Only 50% of ingested fluoride gets to the teeth where it is presumed to be of benefit. But wait, there's more.

Only about 16% of the population is of the age group for whom it has been claimed to be of benefit. But wait, there's more.

So, do the math, best case scenario, 0.04% of the cost of fluoridation actually gets to the teeth of the target population. What a monumental waste of money. But wait, there's even more.

It can cost in excess of $20,000 per patient to repair the dental fluorosis caused by the chronic ingestion of fluoride chemicals found everywhere in all of the food and beverages we eat, because once you put fluoride in the water it gets into all the food and beverages we prepare for our daily consumption.

Can you see any cost effectiveness in putting fluoride chemicals in the water supply to prevent the yet to be validly and objectively proven and non existent outcome of tooth decay prevention or reduction? And, what a waste of money! But wait, there's still more!

Fluoridation doesn’t work as claimed

There is now ample proof that it does not work as claimed. Apparently it works when applied directly to the teeth if it works at all. It's called topical application, like applying sun tan lotion to prevent sun burn. Well just a moment now. Swallowing fluoride chemicals to prevent tooth decay is like swallowing sun tan lotion to prevent sun burn! Isn't that a bit of a stretch?

Get the picture? I do. How come medical bureaucrats, their followers and municipal politicians who listen to them don't get it?

Isn't it time to seriously ask the right questions and investigate the “marketing” answers you're being given. Just because someone has an expensive salary and can legitimately put a lot of letters after their name doesn't mean they've got it right every time they open their mouth to spout some unproven, unfounded theory about fluoridation.

Fluoride is a protoplasmic poison. People's health and well being are at stake here. Maybe we should be appointing medical bureaucrats who don't care about what their big business medical associations tell them to do, and who don't play political games, but take the time to look at current facts and science, and look into current independent research for themselves. Wouldn't that be the right thing to do?

But why is fluoridation so bad? Isn't it good for teeth? No it's not. Why not? Because it’s a protoplasmic poison and they are using an industrial waste chemical: hydrofluorosilicic acid, produced by the phosphate fertilizer industry banned as a polluting contaminant by the U.S. EPA. Yet, somehow, by putting it into a tanker truck and delivering it to our water treatment plant it magically becomes a tooth medicine. Now that's absurd!
